Working Chinese Girl Picks Up Piano After Seven Years

I stopped playing during high school when coursework became too intense, like most of my friends in China who played piano did. After which I was reluctant to pick it up again thinking I’d become too lousy, but the itch for playing again one day was always there.

“Cooking and playing the piano are two of my favorite ways to enjoy life outside of work. Even though I never wanted to be a professional pianist, I was still really proud that I passed the grade 10 piano exam in China in middle school. I stopped playing during high school when coursework became too intense, like most of my friends in China who played piano did. After which I was reluctant to pick it up again thinking I’d become too lousy, but the itch for playing again one day was always there. Now that I’ve been working for seven years and was finally able to move the piano into my own place, I was so happy that after all these years I still remember how to play and it’s brought me so much joy.“
