Piano League is happy to announce its partnership with The International Piano Competition: “City of Vigo”, a renowned piano competition based in Vigo (Pontevedra), Spain, that offers a unique experience to its participants with no age limits, no repertoire restrictions, and acclaimed jurors. This year’s competition, the Nelson Freire Edition, is scheduled for October 15th-19th, 2020.
This year’s competition jury includes Nelson Freire, president of the jury, Martha Argerich, Pablo Galdo, current Artistic Director of The International Piano Competition: “City of Vigo”, Sergio Tiempo, and Tamás Vásáry.
Originally created as a recital over four years ago, the competition is divided into three rounds and includes thousands of dollars in prizes. The pre-selection began in December 2019 and selected its participants in February 2020. The program scheduled for the upcoming week in October is as follows:
- October 14th at 20:30UTC: Ceremony and concert opening concert
- October 15th at 9:00UTC: Reception of the participants and draw
- October 15th from 12:00UTC and from 16:00UTC: First round
- October 16th from 12:00UTC and from 16:00UTC: First round
- October 17th from 12:00UTC and from 16:00UTC: First round
- October 18th from 11:00UTC and from 16:00UTC: Semifinal
- October 19th at 17:00UTC: Final, jury deliberation and awards ceremony
