New Dates Announced for the Preliminary Round of the 18th Chopin Competition in Warsaw

Following the earlier announcement that the Preliminary Round of the 18th Chopin Competition would be postponed, New dates were just announced: 18-29 September 2020.

The preliminary round has been postponed due to emergency precautions taken nationwide in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.
A record number of over 500 applications were submitted for the 18th Chopin Competition. 164 pianists from 33 countries qualified for the preliminaries, including 18 artists who were admitted by winning prizes at piano competitions indicated in the regulations.

The most numerous are representatives of China (34), Japan (31), Poland (19), and South Korea (16); with several contestants from Italy, Russia, the USA, Canada, and France each.

The jury will select about 80 pianists who will take part in the Competition; their names will be announced immediately after the preliminaries. The full list of the participants of the preliminary round is available on the competition website
