The Van Cliburn International Piano Competition announced yesterday that its sixteenth season, originally slated for 2021, has been postponed to June 2-18, 2022. The competition, held at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Texas, is held every four years and is one of the most prestigious and internationally-renowned competitions in the world.
Cliburn president and CEO Jacques Marquis said that one of the goals of the competition is to bring the international classical music community together through the competition’s audience, which would not be possible in such challenging times. As performing is such an audience-based activity, the competition would not be the same without its in-house patrons and supporters.
