The 32 Grand Finalists of the 2020 Piano Star International Competition have just been selected to perform at the Winners Showcase on December 12th (Amateur Division) and December 13th (Professional Division).
The level of talent in this year’s competition has well-exceeded everyone’s expectations. The 159 pianists that took part in the intense Final Round competition this past weekend were selected from a much larger pool of applicants, and represent a very high standard of playing. Needless to say, it’s even harder to come out on top and be one of the Grand Finalists.
To make the Grand Final, one must be the top 2 scoring pianists in the Final Round in their respective age groups in their region. This year, we had 2 regions: the Global and the China region. (We’ve decided that in cases where there aren’t enough qualified finalists in one region, the vacant spot(s) would be given to the 3rd and/or 4th scoring pianist of the other region.)
Unique from all other online competitions, all finalists at the 2020 PL’s Piano Star Competition played LIVE for a 3-judge panel and were given constructive comments immediately following their performances. The Final Round PL Star Score is then calculated based on the average of the PL Star Scores given by the 3 judges.
Grand Finalists will be competing for the ultimate cash prizes, festival scholarships, and college scholarships. More info can be found on the Prizes page of the competition.
All in all, it was truly an amazing musical extravaganza, and congratulations to all of the Grand Finalists! Be sure to tune in LIVE to our Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter at 8 PM ET on Saturday, December 12th and Sunday, December 13th to watch the Grand Finalists perform!
