Angela Hewitt to lead a new music festival in Umbria
The Canadian pianist will be president and artistic director of the Umbria Festival di Angela Hewitt, starting with six concerts in 2027.
Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt has been named president and artistic director of a new festival in the Italian region of Umbria. It is called the Umbria Festival di Angela Hewitt.
The festival comes out of an agreement with the Fondazione Perugia Musica Classica. From 2027, it will present six concerts devised by Hewitt as part of the Sagra Musicale Umbra, the long-running Umbrian festival, which is marking its 90th anniversary.
The news follows the end of Hewitt’s work with the Trasimeno Music Festival. Announcing the new role, Hewitt said Umbria holds a special place in her heart.
