Additional Information:

Each student comes with their own strengths, interests, and learning styles, and together we design a custom musical pathway—so they can cultivate confidence and focus.

In my studio, students play works by Bartok, Satie, Liszt, Granados, and Chopin. Beyond classical repertoire, I also teach students how to improvise on their favorite pop songs, everything from by Adele and Maroon 5 to Broadway musical show tunes such as Hadestown and Wicked. Students also explore ensemble collaboration, family duet performances, and more.

To celebrate their learning, we present biannual concerts that help foster our supportive studio community. In addition, families often offer to host these concerts at their homes to make the events even more memorable.

I am also a firm believer in performance psychology as I have read books and taken courses from the well-known performance psychologists. My students will learn to practice in the deliberate method and prepare emotionally and mentally using the practical and proven tools, so that they can experience the ultimate peak performance on stage and during the competitions.

Ultimately, I teach to help students find joy in expressing themselves and making their own personal connection with music.

Born and raised in Tokyo, Yukimi Song graduated from Ueno Gakuen Junior High School of Music, one of the most prestigious performing arts schools in Japan, with classical piano as her first instrument. Yukimi continued her high school studies at Ueno.
Yukimi Song followed her dream of studying the English language and Journalism in the U.S. While pursuing an undergraduate degree in Communications in Florida, she chose music piano as her minor, which led to her studying with the internationally renowned pianist and pedagogue and winning several competitions. After completing her B.A. in Communications, Yukimi was granted a full scholarship to continue her piano studies, earning a Master’s in Piano Performance.
Upon completing her M.A., Yukimi continued to teach piano lessons and classes at a private college in Florida as a full-time faculty member. During the summers of 2004 and 2005, she won scholarships to study abroad in Salzburg, Austria, where she was selected to play for the Student Concert in Wiener Saal of Mozarteum University.
Yukimi moved to New York City in 2007 to continue her graduate studies at Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University. In 2008, she received an Advanced Certificate Degree in Piano, while also teaching individual and group piano lessons as an Adjunct Instructor at the Steinhardt School at NYU, and teaching young students independently.
In 2013, Yukimi Song Studio LLC was established and has been a member of the Piano Teachers Congress of New York since 2015, where Yukimi is currently serving as Vice President and Secretary. She performs periodically in solo recitals and chamber ensembles in NYC and overseas while educating over 40 piano enthusiasts of all ages and levels in New York City.
Recently, Yukimi added Podcaster in her resumé. She has launched a podcast show for her piano studio: Yukimi Song Studio Presents “Conversations with a Piano Student” to showcase her students and their piano journey. She has also launched the second podcast show with her colleagues, “The Piano Pod.”
