Luzerne Music Center - Senior Session

An international summer destination for serious musicians ages 14-18 that seek a four-week program of demanding musical studies.

Students work closely with LMC’s renowned faculty, and receive daily chamber music coaching, weekly lessons, repertoire classes, orchestral studies, music theory and rhythm instruction, and optional coursework in jazz, secondary lessons, conducting and composition. For one week in August, musicians of The Philadelphia Orchestra are in residence at LMC. They give master classes, lead sectionals, coach small ensembles, and in a limited capacity teach private lessons. ​ The weeklong residency concludes with an annual friendly softball game, the (students) LMC Chipmunks vs the (musicians) Philadelphia Orchestra Firebirds.

Where is Luzerne Music Center?
Luzerne Music Center is located in Lake Luzerne, a charming small town about 60 minutes north of Albany in New York’s Adirondack Park. The campus is positioned next to the lake with a private natural sand beach and access to canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards.

What summer programs do you offer?
The Junior Session targets young passionate musicians ages 9-15. The Senior Session is focused music training for advanced musicians ages 13-18. Both programs admit string, wind, brass, percussion, and piano applicants, and session enrollment is based off of musical and social maturity.

What are the dates for 2023 summer programs?
Full Junior Session – Sunday, June 18 through Friday, July 14
     Junior A – Sunday, June 18 through Saturday, July 1
     Junior B – Sunday, July 2 through Friday, July 14
Senior Session – Monday, July 17 through Sunday, August 13

For advanced students ages 13-15, we offer extended six or eight-week programs.
